Early in the year, i learned the importance of completing all of the workshops and understanding the topics. You can obviosly see that im ny first couple of films i did not do a good job of this at all. For example editing the films and using great camera angles I did horrible. For example, the first big project on cyberbullying and sexting, our camera angles were very wrong and messed up. Some scenes were way too dark in the background, too far zoomed up, or our actor were way too far back. It wasnt untill i learned about the rule of thirds and all the different camera angles, where I started to have good clips. I laugh when i watch that video because it was so badly filmed and edited on my part.
Later in the year our groups videos starting becoming very good. As i got more comfortable filming and acting we recieved very good clips. I believe my best work with this was our Final Project. The camera angles and rule of thirds were at its best while filming this project. We had a very expierenced camera girl with Bree Casas and the clips showed. We had fantastic acting as well with Michael Rodriguez and Damon Perez. This video just shows you how much I learned during this whole year.
As I got more comfortable with everything in Priemere Pro, the videos started looking professional as well. I learned how to edit videos to look extremly crisp and effiecent. Once i got comfortable with editing, I learned how to add special effects because of the sandbox workshop. Creating videos with special effects was challenging at times but overally extremely fun. The videos using special effects was the "Jabborwocky" project and "The Water is Wide" project. The "Water is Wide" project was one of my favorite projects all year. We took a beautiful piece of music and transformed it into a story. Laura and I did an extremely good using the effects on pictures and titles. This project was one of my favorites because it was usiojg clips, acting, and using special effects all in one video! This year was extremely fun, and mostly this was because of the hardwork from everybody in the class and the fantastic teachings of Dr. A. He was very patient while teaching and got his point across when were learning a new topic. I feel very confident in making videos now. One reason why i loved this class was because it was a great transition from taking notes all day long. We had mor "Hands On" learning which is perfect for me. I am so glad i took this class. Thank You Dr. A!
Sincerely,

Fallen Soldier
The "Fallen Soldier" story fits perfectly with the music. "The Water is Wide" creates many different tones. The story takes you through the journey of a wounded soldier coming back into America after the war. He embraces the enviornment and finds who he is looking for. He later then gets shot and thousands of soldiers attend his funeral. My favorite part of the sequence is from 0:01 to 0:40. In these pictures we told the story of a new soldier starting war. This sequence was a timeline from when the soldier first started to when he got wounded in battle. We used many different twirl effects as well as color embess to make the pictures seem more intense. The film is half pictures and half clips and we used the color red for our images most of the time, red symbolized war and battle. The most important work Laura did was adding most of the effects to our pictures. The most important thing I did was find all the pictures and act as the main character in our film.

Jabberwocky Stanza 2
Reflection: The special effect we used best was the stretch effect where you pull the picture horizontal and vertical. An example of how we used this was when we had the dragon picture. We adjusted it to horizontally move in and out to look like the dragon was flapping its wings. We also moved the jaw up and down to by using the vertical axis. The mood we tried making by using this was terryfing. Using this effect really made our video stand out. I'm pround of Laura and I's teamwork.

Special Effects Projects 2
Reflection: For the effect below we used fine edges which is in the stylize folder. We started by making the clip barely turning white and the background was still in color but as the video went longer the clip was all white and clothes had different colors. The background was totally unrecongnizable and the people in the shot were white. You might use this clip in a movie when someone is dieing and fading into the light or in this case white.
Special Effects 1
Reflection: For the effect below we chose Wave Warp in the disort folder. We first started the wave as very high moving waves by adjusting the heights but the speed of the waves were very slow at 1. Then half way through the video we turned the heights down to 1 and the speed up to 7 to create a whole different shot. You might use this in a film to create confusion or maybe if the actor is intoxicated.
